It is hard to believe we are already in the full swing of the holidays! We are grateful for our incredible community here in Haverhill. Our staff, community partners, elected officials, families, and students work tirelessly toward one goal: student success. The holidays can be a stressful time for some families. If you or someone you know needs help this holiday season, please visit our website for the Family Holiday Resource Guide, which highlights some positive community resources.

We will have many celebrations and events over the next few weeks. We encourage you to visit your child’s school website frequently for the most up-to-date information. Fall sports are wrapping up with post-season achievements; students are working hard on their attendance and academics. Many of our schools hosted Thanksgiving Dinners for families and joined in Veterans Day events and Haverhill’s 59th Annual VFW Santa Parade. One of our highlights this month was the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the New Consentino Middle School. We are so excited for the new school and our students to have a beautiful state-of-the-art building!

We wish you all a wonderful Holiday season!

Career Technical Education

HHS CTE Information Technology and Computer Science & Web Development students had a timely presentation by Larry Dysart, a member of their Program Advisory Committee.  Larry programs an amazing light display on his house for Halloween (set to music!).  He was very generous and came in to share with the students how he builds the various components and programs the lights to change with the beat of the accompanying music.  Students asked many great questions.  For more information about the Career Technical Education Program Advisory Committees, contact Lisa Hunt, Work-Based Learning Coordinator, at lhunt@haverhill-stage.materiell.net.

Career Technical Education

HHS CTE Biomedical and Healthcare Occupations students were fortunate to have an amazing tour at Merrimack College!  Students were able to see the telescope and the organic chemistry lab (where students were learning about the components of tea’s health benefits).  They looked through a confocal microscope at different types of cells and pollen and observed phytoremediation (removing toxins from the soil using plants) in the greenhouse.  They also were able to discuss the nursing program with actual students!  In addition to all of this, they experienced everyday life at the campus center, the bowling alley and the student dorms.  Thanks to the staff at Merrimack College for a great day!  For more information about HHS CTE programs, visit cte.haverhill-stage.materiell.net

MassHealth Redeterminations

Starting April 1, 2023, MassHealth will begin the eligibility redetermination process, renewing all 2.3M members over the following 12 months. This will generally be the first-time members are at risk of losing their coverage since February 2020. In preparation for this effort, MassHealth has increased staffing significantly to handle a greater volume of calls and applications, improved our systems to automatically renew as many members’ coverage as possible, and is working in close collaboration with health plans, providers, and other stakeholders. Even with this preparation, we understand this may be difficult for members. We’re asking for your support as part of our outreach strategy. Visit their website or contact Tiffany Bell, HPS Family Engagement Nurse, @ tiffany.bell@haverhill-stage.materiell.net (APPT ONLY). For Spanish call 978-475-5521, for Portuguese email katia.morris@haverhill-stage.materiell.net

Groundbreaking for the New Consentino Middle School

The Groundbreaking for the New Consentino Middle School was this morning. Despite the chill in the air, a large group celebrated the new building. Dr. Marotta spoke to current 5th-grade students, who will be the first 8th-grade class to populate the new school, describing how beautiful the new school will be. Thank you to everyone who joined us today. The Consentino Chorus performed the National Anthem and a closing song for the audience. This project is a genuine community effort on the local and State level that took many paths along the way; we are fortunate our partners care as much about student success as we do!

She always has a smile on her face and creates a great atmosphere around her in the kitchen! We are so lucky to have her as a part of our team!

Jackie truly exemplifies what a great leader looks like! Her and her staff have had a challenging start of the year and she has cultivated an environment where everyone on the team can feel supported not only at work but outside of work as well. She keeps calm under pressure and always ensures all her students are fed delicious meals! Thank you so much Jackie!

¡Muchas gracias Jackie!
