Community School Resources at Nettle Middle School
Community Schools serve as hubs for learning and support, bringing together academics, youth programs, community resources, and family engagement opportunities in one accessible location. Community School Coordinators help students and families connect with these resources, partnering with local organizations to remove barriers, strengthen community connections, and create meaningful opportunities. By addressing the full spectrum of needs for students and their families, Community Schools help every learner succeed both in and out of the classroom.
NETTLE COMMUNITY SCHOOL GOALS

Winter Gear!
A huge thank you to our community partners at The Boston Backpack Project for their generous donation of winter wear for our students! Because of their support, we are able to meet most of the winter needs of children in our community.
Coats, scarves, boots, and other cold-weather essentials are available in the front lobby of Nettle Middle School.
Community School Coordinator, Nimcy Guerra, will be holding office hours on December 26th, 30th, and January 2nd from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM for anyone who needs assistance with food, clothing, shoes, or other necessities.
Please feel free to call or text Nimcy at 978-219-4197 if you need support.
Community Schools at Nettle
The students in the Functional Academics classroom have been hard at work caring for Nettle’s aquaponics setup!
Aquaponics is a sustainable farming method that combines fish and hydroponics — and our students are learning all about it firsthand. Every day, they feed the tilapia, check the water levels, and care for the growing lettuce and cilantro.
The best part? Their goal is to provide fresh produce for Nettle’s Community Food Pantry — growing food and giving back!
This is what makes community schools awesome — and this is why we are Haverhill!
Fresh Cuts & Community Connections at Nettle Middle School!
Once again, The Barber Academy stopped by Nettle Middle School to offer free haircuts to our students! We’re so thankful for their continued partnership and generosity — helping our students look and feel their best.
As a proud Community School, Nettle is all about building strong partnerships that support our students and families.
Thank you to The Barber Academy for being such an amazing community partner!
Community in Action!
A big thank you to our partners at the Haverhill Police Department for stopping by Nettle Middle School after their successful Stuff the Cruiser event to drop off generous donations!
We’re so grateful for the continued collaboration between our schools and community organizations — together, we’re making a difference, one act of kindness at a time.
Community Partnerships
Haverhill Community Resource Fair
In collaboration with the City of Haverhill and Community Action Inc., the Office of Rep. Andy Vargas hosted a Community Resource Fair at the Haverhill Citizen Center.
Residents connected with local organizations, learned about available support programs, and explored helpful community resources.
We were glad to have Jenniffer Cabrera-Vicente (Consentino Community School Coordinator), Nimcy Guerra (Nettle Community School Coordinator), and Maritza Martinez (District Family Engagement Specialist) representing Haverhill Public Schools.
