October will be a busy and exciting time across our schools — from classroom learning to family engagement events, athletic competitions, and creative student projects, the energy in our buildings is inspiring!

This month, we encourage all families to stay connected through the Student-Parent Portal, attend upcoming school events, and reach out with any questions or feedback. Your involvement makes a real difference!

At Haverhill Public Schools, we are grateful for the continued support of our amazing community partners, who consistently go above and beyond to invest in our students, staff, and schools.

A special thank you to Christine Yee and MDC Management, Subaru Adopt-a-Classroom, The Knights of Columbus, Ernie Boch Jr., and Music Drives Us, among many others, who help us create meaningful opportunities for learning, growth, and creativity across the district.

Your generosity and partnership make a lasting impact — and we’re proud to have you as part of the HPS family.

We are proud to announce the launch of “We Are Haverhill!”— a series celebrating the incredible students, staff, community members, and programs that make our schools thrive. Device Waiver Fee

As part of the District’s 1:1 initiative, every Haverhill Public Schools student receives a HPS-issued Chromebook. HPS offers the opportunity to protect school-issued devices for the school year by paying a Device Waiver Fee. As outlined in the HPS Student Technology Device Policy, this $20 fee will help to cover the costs of potential damage, repair, or loss for the school year for the assigned device. Please note: issues of theft should still be reported to the police.

The Device Waiver Fee is available for purchase throughout the school year. For more information, visit our website.

Qustodio

Did you know that children spend an average of 4 hours daily on apps unrelated to schoolwork? Do you want to know how to change that? Haverhill Public Schools has teamed up with Qustodio, a FREE student safety, digital wellbeing platform that helps you control your child’s access to the internet on their school-issued Chromebook. For more information, visit our website.

Music Drives Us

A huge thank you to Music Drives Us for their generous donation to Haverhill Public Schools!

Their support helps expand music opportunities for our students—bringing instruments, resources, and the joy of music into our classrooms.

Music Drives Us is founded by Ernie Boch, Jr., a businessman, philanthropist, and musician. He studied music at Berklee College of Music. His love of music is genuine and has driven much of his philanthropy. He founded Music Drives Us to help keep music in schools, especially where budget cuts or lack of resources threaten arts programs.

Thank you to Music Drives Us and HPS Band Instructor Matthew Leftin for his hard work securing the grant. We are so grateful for this investment in our students’ creativity and education.

Career Technical Education

Spotlight on our HHS Summer Interns!  We recently celebrated our summer interns as they delivered their final presentations and received certificates of completion. Surrounded by parents, administrators, worksite mentors, and teachers, our students were recognized for their growth and professionalism.

We are grateful to our business partners for making these opportunities possible: Baystate Physical Therapy, Bethany Communities, Elizabeth Calsey House, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, HC Media, HPS IT Department, Haverhill DPW, Hydracor, Lawrence General Hospital, Lowell General Hospital, Martinos Center, Rapid Coatings Inc, Sarah’s Place, UMass Lowell Propel, and YMCA. Congratulations to all of our interns on a successful summer!

Career Technical Education

HHS Career Technical Education students had the opportunity to shop for FREE professional attire during this year’s Ruth’s House Pop-Up Shop!  These clothes and accessories will help students put their best foot forward during work-based learning activities, such as guest speakers, business and college tours, job shadow days and internships.  We can’t wait to see everything these students will accomplish this year!
